Iconix is not just tutoring. Although most clients desire improved academic success, passing the next test is not the focus nor the goal. Our work is both broader and deeper than that of a tutor. The first order of business is to observe the student/client and conduct a thorough assessment. Thinking strategy determines speed and efficiency of memory and learning. It is thinking strategy that separates good from poor students. We have been trained by Iconix to be diagnosticians of thinking which informs our quest to teach better thinking strategy in all areas of academic skills and subjects. Proper analysis of eye movement, attention, and thinking is critical. We carefully study attention, physical behavior, and thinking strategies to identify where our clients are misaligned. Using the Iconix learning system coupled with our years of experience working with students, we help students learn to use their most powerful processing and memory tools to achieve faster, more efficient, and deeper learning. Respecting the hierarchies of human development (crawling before walking, tactile exploration before visual dominance), we use Iconix multi-modal and multi-sensory instructional programs to help fill in the gaps of developmental need. Once this is accomplished, addressing academic needs needs is much easier. Our mission is to bring neuroscience to education through methods, tools, and techniques that improve student engagement, learning speed, and depth of memory. All children love to learn when conditions and demands are properly matched with their particular state of brain growth and development.
